Admission Requirements

“O” Levels in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics OR English Language, Science, Biology (or Agricultural Science) and any other acceptable subject OR Biologicals Sciences, Biology/Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Zoology, Botany, Bachelor of Science degree with education with Biology major or Biology/Chemistry: Biomedical Sciences, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Environmental Health, Nursing, Clinical Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Sciences, Human Nutrition, Radiology or Radiography, or any other related Health Science degree which includes courses in Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry (Inorganic, Organic, and Analytical) and Biochemistry OR transfer from other Medical Schools (Both Local and International)

NOTE:

  • Applicants with only “O” Level qualifications who will be admitted to the School of Medicine will be required to take first and second-year courses in the School of Natural Sciences.
  • Applicants with relevant Bachelor’s Degrees will be admitted at 3rd year level in the School of Medicine.
  • Transfers from other Medical Schools may enter at 3rd or 5th-year level. Applicants already enrolled in the MBChB programme at other Medical Schools (both local and International) but with transfer to the University of Zambia, School of Medicine should apply through the Office of the Vice Chancellor.

How To Apply For University of Zambia Admission

Here are the details on how to apply for the University of Zambia admission. Applicants are to follow the directives provided below to apply for admission.

A. Undergraduate Application Process

Between April and August application forms for admission are available at Academic Office at a fee and can also be accessed online from the links below:

Application forms may also be obtained in person or maybe requested for in writing from the Academic Office, University of Zambia, and University of Zambia offices are situated at provincial centers.

Applicants may download the application form from the University of Zambia website. For current application fees, check from the Academic Office.

Closing Dates for Applications

The closing date for the submission of the University of Zambia application form is indicated on the application forms.

Applicants who wish to send the application fee by post should do so using telegraphic money orders or certified cheques and not cash. The telegraphic order or cheque must bear the applicant’s full name and address.

B. Postgraduate Application Process

Application forms can be obtained from the Directorate of Research and Graduate Studies or downloaded from the University of Zambia website.

Completed application forms should be accompanied by a payment of a non-refundable application fee of K150.00 for Zambians and US$60.00 for non-Zambians.

Postal and Money Orders are no longer accepted. Money should be deposited into DRGS Account number 0100110272200 Standard Chartered Main Branch Lusaka.

C. Distance Education Application Process

Use the following steps to apply:

1. Visit the Institute of Distance Education website by typing ide.unza.zm in your web browser (Mozilla, chrome, internet explorer, etc.):

  • Undergraduate Students: On your left-hand side locate and click on “Online application(Undergraduate)” under the heading “Online Services
  • Postgraduate Students: On your left-hand side locate and click on “Online application (Postgraduate”) under the heading “Online Services”.

2. Select the term you want to apply for (eg. 2018, 2019, etc.).

3. Select the program you wish to apply for (eg. Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, Master of Business Administration, etc.).

4. Fill in the form with the information required (e.g name, address, educational background, etc.).

Note: all mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk(*) and these should all be filled in.

5. Scan and upload softcopy documents (previous education(Grade 12, Diploma or Degree), certifications, NRC, etc.) under the section with the heading “Upload Academic Documents”.

6. Click on the “Save and Proceed” button to submit the Application form.

7. Your application has now been submitted for approval, take note of the application number.

8. Print the bill master form by clicking on “Print ZANACO Deposit Form” and make payment at your nearest ZANACO branch.

Application for Postgraduate Programmes:
